Have you ever noticed that houses by the ocean always have some interesting characteristic? I noticed recently the large amount of weather vanes to be found among the ocean homes. A well suited feature to be found by the shore.
Weather vanes used to be more common. Before all of our modern means for telling the weather, one used to march outside and look up at the roof to find which way the weather vane was pointing. The weather vane pointed into the way the wind was coming from. From this one could decipher what kind of weather to expect.
Weather vanes come in all sorts of styles. I saw a rooster, an eagle, a dog, a cat, a pig, and a sail boat within my three block walk. How fun to add a little personality and function to the home, while preserving a traditional way of weather forecasting.
